Learning Outcomes:

  • Develop an understanding of pre-vaccination screening tests required before administering Q fever vaccine
  • Perform a Q fever skin test 
  • Interpret blood and skin test results and know when it is appropriate to administer Q fever vaccine
  • Acquire brief knowledge of Q fever including prevalence and chronicity, the importance of prevention and who is at risk (beyond abattoir workers)
  • Recognise the need to perform a pre-vaccination skin and serology screening test to minimise adverse vaccination outcomes.
