Target Audience: GPs and AGPT registrars requiring skills training in focused psychological strategies or an update of their skills.

This three-day workshop is designed to educate and instruct GPs in key Focused Psychological Therapies.

Education and skills training will be provided in Motivational Interviewing, Behavioural and Cognitive Behavioural Strategies, Relaxation Therapy and Mindfulness.

Instruction and training will be provided by A/Prof Grant Blashki (University of Melbourne), Ms Alison Bell and Ms Valarie Yeung in formats that are both informative and interactive.

Highly credentialed representatives of the consumer and carer communities will also provide understanding about the role and effects that psychological therapies and general practice play in their experiences with mental illness.

GPs who enrol in this workshop receive a comprehensive guide and readings for completion before attending the workshop.

A pre-workshop evaluation also needs to be completed.

Following the workshop, GPs will need to complete an evaluation along with all assessment activities outlined in the Active Learning Module.
