This webinar will provide rural and remote GPs with an opportunity to discuss GP shared antenatal care, define ‘low risk’ pregnancy, develop confidence and skills in caring for women through an antenatal shared care model and update knowledge of the current standards of practice for antenatal and postnatal care

This session will also introduce the Western NSW Local Health District Maternity GP Shared Care Antenatal Guidelines. These guidelines have been developed to assist WNSW GPs in navigating and sharing the care of women who experience no or low risk pregnancies, assessing complexities that may already exist or arise during pregnancy, make decisions about when to discuss care and/or consult/refer to other service providers.

Target Audience: GPs, Registrars and Obstetricians. Interested Nurses, Medical Students and other health professionals are welcome to participate

Program:

Learning Outcomes:

  • Define low risk pregnancies
  • Discuss the current standards of practice for antenatal and postnatal care including the standardised serology, screening, schedule of visits and referrals in a rural and remote context
  • Identify pathways for all women during their pregnancy journey
  • Collaborate to improve information availability and accuracy for a patient’s whole care team, irrespective of their location.
