headspace has today reached an exceptional national milestone with the launch of its 100th centre. The National Youth Mental Health Foundation this morning officially opened the doors of its latest centre on Blende Street in Broken Hill.

headspace CEO Jason Trethowan said it was entirely fitting that a town with such a rich  Australian history as Broken Hill, was the site of the 100th headspace centre.

“Over the past 11 years headspace has helped countless communities across the country and that work continues today, and into the future,” he said.

headspace Broken Hill centre manager Rynnette Gentle said the local community were honoured to be able to open the centre doors as the 100th headspace.

Federal Member for Parkes, Mark Coulton said headspace Broken Hill would provide important assistance for the younger residents in this region.

“This centre continues the work of the Australian Government that is focused on  preventative health services and providing teenagers and young adults with affordable, youth-friendly mental health services,” he said.

“This Centre has been funded and supported by the Western NSW Primary Health Network to meet an identified need for more mental health services in Broken Hill. We are thrilled these services are now up and running, providing support to these communities,” said Andrew Harvey, CEO Western NSW Primary Health Network.
