The Empowering our Communities grants program offers support to people and communities struggling with drought. The grants fund wellbeing initiatives, upskill workers in the delivery of mental health services and provide information and training to community leaders and members. Over the coming weeks and months the Western NSW Primary Health Network (PHN) will bring you stories of perseverance and resilience from some of the communities the program is supporting.

Condobolin Sports Club will throw open its doors to the public on Easter Saturday, April 20 for a free Cocktails and Canapes night.

Organiser Brad Hurley said it was a chance to get people off the farm and give them a great night out.

“We’ll have John Watson, the piano man, playing, we’re going to be serving pork sliders and other food you can eat standing up and everyone gets a free cocktail on entry,” he said.

“We’re hoping to get at least 150 to 200 people come out for the night.”

Mr Hurley said people in and around Condobolin were struggling.

“They’re not doing very well,” he said.

“Things are very ordinary out here and it’s about to turn cold. We’re looking at a fairly ordinary winter.”

Doors open at 6pm.
