WNSW PHN Invites Feedback on Draft Plan for Reconciliation
Western NSW Primary Health Network is developing its first plan for reconciliation with the support of Reconciliation Australia and is inviting feedback from the public.
“We’re very excited to invite all of our stakeholders and communities to have a look at the work our Reconciliation Working Group has been doing on the development of our first plan for reconciliation,” said WNSW PHN CEO Andrew Harvey.
“Embedding Aboriginal health as a core focus of the work of the PHN is one of our guiding principles, and so reconciliation is critical to assisting us to ensure we’re making meaningful gains in the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people across our region,” said Mr Harvey.
“With the support of Reconciliation Australia, the peak body for reconciliation in Australia, we are developing an Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan,” said Mr Harvey.
“We believe the Innovate RAP is representative of where Western NSW PHN is on our reconciliation journey, allowing for us to aspire for deeper understanding to build better relationships and partnerships which will advance reconciliation and better health outcomes in our region,” said Mr Harvey.
“There are 15 committed Reconciliation Working Group members who come from within our ranks at WNSW PHN, from external organisations and from Aboriginal communities across the PHN region.”
“We already do a lot of great work in the role we play as a commissioner of services to support programs and services to improve the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people and the RAP will help us to build on this good work,” said Mr Harvey.
“The draft actions, deliverables and timeframes for our reconciliation plan are now open for consultation and we genuinely welcome all feedback before we take the next steps.”

The WNSW PHNs Aboriginal Health Council, with representation from Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations, the Local Health Districts, and Aboriginal Community leadership is also engaged in the development of the WNSW PHNs plan for reconciliation.

Reconciliation Australia is the peak body supporting the RAP program and providing a framework for organisations to meet the national reconciliation movement.
