Research is the undisputed foundation of effective health care. Single studies can involve millions of dollars and thousands of patients and it can be easy to assume that research cannot be driven by family doctors in their own practices. This session will explore how general practice and general practitioners can use research methods to understand and solve problems relevant to their practice. It will be an interactive session, with participants encouraged to bring along research ideas to consider: how the research might be undertaken, what might it produce, feasibility, and; relevance to practice. Availability of existing support structures will also be discussed.

Presented by: Dr Emma Webster, Senior Lecturer, Rural Research
