HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

This interactive course describes the skills and knowledge required to perform basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.
Learning outcomes
- Outline the main aims of first aid
- Perform Primary Survey, in a simulated situation, to assess danger, response, sending for help, airway, breathing, CPR and defibrillator use (DRSABCD)
- Perform CPR in accordance with current ARC guidelines
- Recognise when and how to use an automated external defibrillator
Note: This course requires practical application of resuscitation and other practical scenarios that will require kneeling on the floor for at least 2 minutes. In order to achieve a Statement of Attainment, candidates must successfully complete the practical components under the Award conditions.
