GP Masterclass (Dubbo): Management of acute knee injuries and osteoarthritis – Latest guidelines and evidence
When | Thursday, 31 July 2025 (6.30pm to 8.30pm) |
Where | WNSW PHN Office, 187 Brisbane Street (first floor), DUBBO |
Knee injuries, pathology and symptoms including stiffness, instability and locking are common presentations in primary care for all ages with varying aetiologies. Consequently, diagnostic investigations and treatment options are wide-ranging. Rural and regional GPs have an important role in managing these presentations.
The increasing availability of advanced imaging techniques, injectable therapies and surgical interventions has improved management possibilities but also raised concerns about over-investigation and overtreatment.
This session will enable GPs to explore acute, sub-acute and chronic knee pain, review current best evidence and discuss practical recommendations to help both diagnostic and treatment decision-making.
Learning outcomes
- Discuss how to optimise non-operative management of knee osteoarthritis
- Identify whether a painful knee is suitable for joint preservation, partial or total joint replacement
- Outline the initial treatment strategies of an acute knee injury
Accreditation
RACGP Activity Ref: 1278283. Please note ACRRM accreditation is pending
