WNSW PHN Welcomes Dr. Ai-Vee Chua: A Leader in Rural Healthcare and Community Wellbeing
The Western NSW Primary Health Network (WNSW PHN) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Ai-Vee Chua as a new Director on the Western Health Alliance Limited (WHAL) Board.
WNSW PHN CEO, Brad Porter says Dr. Chua’s unwavering dedication to improving rural healthcare services and her leadership in the medical field will add significant value to the WHAL Board and WNSW PHN outcomes.
“Dr Ai-Vee Chua is a dedicated rural General Practitioner with over 20 years of experience.
“Dr Chua’s influence in clinical practice, advisory and advocacy roles, academia and quality and workforce improvement make her a really exciting addition to the WHAL Board,” Mr Porter said.
As one of the founding GPs of Dubbo Family Doctors, Dr. Chua has been instrumental in shaping the clinic’s patient-centred approach to care, driving innovation, and tailoring healthcare services to meet the diverse needs of the local community.
Dr. Chua’s influence extends far beyond her clinical practice. She currently serves as the Senior Clinical Editor for Western NSW HealthPathways, where she contributes to the development of local clinical guidelines and referral pathways, ensuring efficient navigation for clinicians in the diagnosis, treatment, and referral process.
Her expertise and leadership were also key in the formation of the Western NSW Primary Health Network’s (PHN) Western Clinical Advisory Council, where she served as Chair until her appointment to the Board.
Dr. Chua is an active contributor to several advisory and advocacy groups, including the Australian Medical Association (AMA) NSW Clinical Council and the Royal Australian College of General Practice (RACGP) NSW/ACT Faculty.
As a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney, Dr. Chua is committed to advancing medical education and mentoring the next generation of rural doctors. She is also dedicated to research in the healthcare sector and is currently pursuing a Master of Digital Health with a focus on health data analytics.
With a strong passion for continuous quality improvement, Dr. Chua advocates for cross-sectoral collaboration to optimise patient health outcomes and the efficient use of healthcare resources. Her work reflects a commitment to evidence-based health service delivery, with the goal of improving both individual and community health outcomes in rural areas.
Outside of her medical career, Dr. Chua is a talented musician, actively performing as a member of the Orange Symphony Orchestra and the NSW Doctors Orchestra. Her diverse talents and dedication to her community further highlight her commitment to both healthcare and the arts.
