This education session will be a case-based exploration of the best ways to measure blood pressure, best agents for blood pressure, signs that there may be a secondary cause for high blood pressure, best work-up for secondary causes and latest evidence about management of secondary courses.

Learning Outcomes:

• Define blood pressure targets, have a reproducible way of measuring blood pressure, and have a logical, stepped approach to pharmacological management of hypertension
• Recongise red flags for secondary causes of hypertension
• Discuss the latest evidence guiding treatment in the different causes of secondary hypertension and develop an approach to appropriate work-up and referral
• Follow guidelines for blood pressure control and their role in reducing burden of disease in the community
