Q fever is the most frequently reported and severe zoonosis in Australia. The epidemiology of Q fever goes beyond abattoir workers. This presentation will provide a brief overview of Q fever epidemiology, prevalence and clinical features. It will also provide guidance on identifying who is at risk, the importance of prevention and how to screen patients prior to administering Q fever vaccine. Participants will gain a clear understanding of pre-vaccination screening, testing and interpreting results to determine if patients are suitable for Q fever vaccine. An overview of how to set up a Q fever clinic will also be provided.
